The OHT is a 285-mile National Recreation Trail that stretches across one of Arkansas’ most scenic regions, the Ozark Plateau. Our three-part topographic Backcountry Maps, Thru-Hiker Series, covers it in dramatic detail from the highest, rugged ridges in the west to gently rolling hills in the north. These three maps are the only recreationally focused topographic maps of the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas. No matter what section of the OHT you want to hike, or which part of the forest you want to explore, these maps will get you there, beautifully.
Ozark Highlands Trail North, Map 3 of 3 (1st Edition)
The newest addition to our Backcountry Maps, Thru-Hiker Series, this map covers the most recently completed section of the OHT with 89 trail miles from Woolum Campground to Matney Knob. And with the help of an inset, this map also includes the 14-mile North Fork Sylamore Creek hiking trail, and over 50 miles of Syllamo mountain biking trails.
The trail follows the Buffalo National River on top of its towering bluffs with panoramic views of the river below. It then challenges the thru-hiker with the Lower Buffalo Bushwhack through the Lower Buffalo Wilderness Area. The final 31 miles of the trail are situated in Sylamore Ranger District of the Ozark National Forest and circumvents the Leatherwood Wilderness Area. You’ll also find recreational opportunities throughout the lower Buffalo National River and the Sylamore Ranger District of the Ozark National Forest.
